Tereena Somayya
Tereena Somayya is an experienced educational leader with over a decade of advancing college access, persistence, and career readiness for high school students in New York City. She serves on a School Management Team as Director of College and Career Success, leading schoolwide strategy to ensure students are prepared for and successfully navigate postsecondary pathways. In this role, she oversees college and career readiness staff, develops data-driven systems to track student outcomes, and partners with staff and families to support students throughout the college and career planning process. Tereena brings deep expertise in college advising, including college list development, essay coaching, financial aid navigation, and the transition to various post-secondary pathways.
Holding a master’s degree in education, she leads the design and implementation of a comprehensive College and Career Readiness (CCR) program, while also strengthening CTE pathways to expand career opportunities for students. She supervises and develops staff, builds strategic partnerships, and is known for creating impactful college access and work-based learning programs. Tereena is especially committed to supporting first-generation and historically underserved students. Her work is grounded in equity, strong relationships, and a belief that every student deserves access to opportunities aligned with their strengths and aspirations.
